Take part in our Spooky Halloween Trail at Athlone Castle on Thursday 31st October 2024.
Meet some friendly resident ghosts and ghouls as you explore our Haunted Trail throughout the visitor centre.
Keep your eyes peeled for clues hidden all around the visitor centre, and pay a visit to the Castle Witch, who will be conjuring a special Halloween prize for all children who complete the hunt.
We encourage children to dress up as there will be plenty of photo opportunities along the way. There will also be a colouring station to create frighteningly festive artwork.
Pre-booking is essential as places are limited.
Not suitable for children under 4 years old.
Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Athlone Castle was first built to defend the crossing point on the River Shannon and evolved into a bold defensive structure over the centuries. Elements of the original castle can still be seen today.
We tell the story of settlement in this part of Ireland’s Ancient East, from the Neolithic period through Viking, and Medieval ages to modern life in Athlone.
