As part of the All Ireland Drama Fringe Festival you are invited to join Poetry in the Park on Sun 8th May at 2pm in Athlone Castle for an afternoon of poetry, book readings, and music. All are invited to join in, read a poem or simply to listen. Writer Mick Donnellan will launch his fourth novel The Naked Flame at this event.
Set in Athlone, the heart of the Irish Midlands, The Naked Flame is a story of love, loss, betrayal and passion.
This is a FREE RTÉ All Ireland Drama Festival fringe event, not including admission to the castle.

Athlone Castle was first built to defend the crossing point on the River Shannon and evolved into a bold defensive structure over the centuries. Elements of the original castle can still be seen today.
We tell the story of settlement in this part of Ireland’s Ancient East, from the Neolithic period through Viking, and Medieval ages to modern life in Athlone.
