A nature treasure hunt will be available for visitors to participate in each Sunday of National Heritage Week.
This fun and easy activity will familiarise visitors with the Herb Garden at Athlone Castle. It will include fun and educational questions with clues spread throughout the castle grounds, e.g. What herbs taste best in a soup? What berry is a close relative of a rose? Can you spot a butterfly? Who is moving into the Snug-Bug Hotel in the meadow? Our young visitors will be encouraged to seek clues for answers to these and similar questions while enjoying our newly established garden.
This activity at Athlone Castle is supported by the Heritage Council under the Irish Walled Towns Network 2024 Interpretation Fund.
Access to this activity is included with a regular admission fee.
