Athlone Castle Visitor Centre is delighted to join in sharing stories for Heritage Week 2018, whose theme this year is “Share a Story, Make a Connection”.
Athlone Castle hosted a ‘Spooky Storytelling’ evening with storyteller Aideen McBride in the upper Keep on Saturday 28th October, Aideen entertained with slightly spooky stories for younger children and got everybody in a ‘frightful’ mood for Halloween.
Athlone Castle, Luan Gallery and Abbey Road Artists’ Studios are delighted to be offering an exciting schedule of free events for Culture Night 2017 on Friday, 22nd September.
Athlone Castle celebrates National Heritage Week with an extensive programme of events for all ages
National Heritage Week 2015 took place from Saturday 22nd – Sunday 30th August.
Athlone Castle Visitor Centre invites you to explore the programme of activities scheduled for National Heritage Week from Saturday 19th to Sunday 27th August 2017. The Visitor Centre will host a number of events throughout the week suitable for all ages.

This sandstone slab of which the bottom half is missing, bears an elaborate ringed cross that is decorated with spirals and interlace. A unique feature is the depiction of the evangelists St. Mark and St. Luke on either side of the ring.
