Unleash your inner author with help from The John Broderick Writer in Residence, Keith Payne.
In this 45-minute live online workshop session children will be given hints and tips on how to write a short story or poem based on the shenanigans of the Athlone Castle characters, Hugh the Williamite soldier and Olaf the Viking warrior.
This exciting creative writing event is for children between the ages of 12 and 17 and will help them find the perfect words to create unique and interesting short stories or poems to enter the Athlone Castle Creative Writing Competition. Find out more here
This virtual workshop is free, but pre-booking is essential as spaces are limited.

- This is a live online zoom workshop with both, camera and microphone functionalities turned on for all students and facilitator. However, if you do not want your children to appear on camera, it can be switched off, which will not affect the ability to participate actively.
- This workshop is recorded and monitored for safety and quality.
- The creative writing workshop is open to children from Athlone, neighbouring localities, and Westmeath between the ages of 12-17 years.
